small letters embroideredToday’s embroidery technique has been computerized in all the process, from big graphics to the smallest details, particularly the small letters. Besides of its problem and difficulty in the production, there are some proper techniques to perform the embroidering small lettering.
Simplification is not an option and unacceptable. Many of us think because of its tiny sizes, we can remove the small details and simplify the graphics yet still keep the messages remain unchanged and perpetual for the audiences. Any detail removal can turn the desired letter into a distorted and unrecognisable shape. So, how to deal with this limitation of the small lettering embroidery technique?

The thickness of the threads and the required gap for every needle’s puncture are two of the barriers we have on small details embroidery, especially small lettering. Another thing need to be considered is the underlay, the medium of the fabric’s underlay to be exactly. There will be a straight-up thick mesh of warp and weft on the fabric. The braid’s thickness would be heavily impact the embroidery’s densities and textures. However, the embroidery machine has the ability to carry out bigger task than the properties of the fabric. It’s not a problem for the machine for a single puncture of a needle, but double punctures of the small lettering or micro graphics will leave the same point effects. We reduce these effects by applying the densest weave underlay and attach it to the bottom. It will not only strengthen the surface, but also tighten the material during the embroidery process.

We do a lot of computerized embroidery technique for lettering. In our experience, the minimum height for a text or letter is 5 mm. This is the minimum size for a fully readable text or letter. Imagine when you apply the embroidery text with only 3 mm in sizes, no one would be able to read and understand, especially when you are using a more complicated font. It is completely unreadable and will be useless. Our recommended size is 8 mm minimum and 10 mm or more for any other unusual fonts. It will create a better and aesthetic look for your embroidery lettering.

To achieve the desired and wonderful effect, we could put as many rows of threads as we can when we embroider the surface. It will give an attractive and captivating structure. It is much more appealing rather than use a single thread only.

By writing a sample letter on a paper, it can guide you on what size of the letters you can apply on your embroidery. But you should always keep in mind that letters with 3-4 mm sizes may not be readable when embroidered, even if you can write these micro letters and read them with your naked eye from the paper.
